Physical releases, DVD-Roms, flash games, and more - interactive mediums with our gaggle of exhibits! If there's an officially licensed NatM themed Monopoly set, I'll add it here. (Hey, one can hope, right?)

Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures

last edited: 23 october 2024, 9:21 PM EDT

A hidden object game released in 2014. Announced via this Facebook post. It is unknown why the app was removed from mobile app stores; though the likeliest reason is low engagement, despite its placement under "Best New Games" shortly after launch (source).

Over 35 scenes were available to play, some of which have been preserved by the Search in screenshots below.

Platforms: iOS, Android

Trailers and Gameplay

Concept Art and Assets

This game's art director is Megan Schlegel. She worked with Justin Lu, Tim Tang and Susan Cho to create the game. According to Schlegel:

"I led a team of in-house Artists and external Production teams to launch a game in coordination with the film debut. We succeeded within an extremely tight development timeline - proceeding from concept to game launch in 3 months. I established the scale model of the museum and established the user flow aka museum floorplan."

Screenshots

These are also archived from Schlegel's website. The captions are visible as alt text/hover text.

Several games were made for the series with Flash. While some have been located, others remain lost. These were hosted on the now defunct NATM official website, and some remain available through the Flashpoint Archive. The Search has made a custom playlist with all the games that have been found on the Flashpoint Archive.

Battle of the Smithsonian: Matching Pairs

A matching tiles game made to promote the second film. Seen on the official site, Y8, and Nickelodeon.

Playable through the Flashpoint Archive.
Gameplay is available to view here.

A flight simulation game made to promote the second film on the official NatM website. This game was recently found in March of 2024 after the recent Flashpoint update. It's likely that more NatM Flash games will be located through this archive.

Biggest Battle in History

A multiplayer game where a team of three battles another team of three. Originally had Facebook integration so one could invite others to play. Also had certain characters locked behind codes that one needed to get via sweepstakes or promotional items. Proven to exist here.

Pompeii Escape

A runner game where you control Jed and outrun lava in Pompeii. Available on the official site and potentially spread to sites like Cartoon Network and Y8.

It was developed by Zynga, best known for Facebook games like Farmville, built in the open source cocos2d-x engine.

At the right is the title screen, and a screenshot of the game. No footage has been found. The game seems to have used a "gradient realism" art style, with some cartoony elements; similar to the icon for the NATM 1 app.
