"It's kind of how we pass the time."
This page is about a fanfiction. It will link back to the source material, but do not consider the subject of this page canon.
Jedediah and Octavius don’t make it out of Pompeii. While the museum mourns, the two have a spiritual journey.
When the tablet returns, though, things go awry - on both ends of the mortal coil.
The Heavenverse is a setting created by HungryOnMain. The first fic in this setting was published in 2022, and the series was completed in 2024. It is a canon-divergent fic, exploring an afterlife scenario over the course of six fics.
This series has its main plot spread over 4 acts, each act being its own post to AO3: i don't wanna live forever, whatever's waiting on the other side, i think me and mine will be all right, and i don't wanna go to heaven. The last two entries were mournful camaraderie, a midquel exploring the time spent between the final chapter and epilogue; and heaven side stories, a self-proclaimed dumping ground for stories in the Heavenverse.
Be advised - this series is for mature audiences. It contains gore, body horror, sex, heavy themes including religion, and many forms of death. Reader discretion is advised.

During the events of Secret of the Tomb, Jedediah and Octavius die in Pompeii, their bodies melting into one chunk of plastic. This corpse is delivered to Larry, who keeps it after the incident is resolved. In a liminal place between life and death, the two minis meet the embodiment of death itself, Psychopomp. They "go by many names", and their appearance changes based on who's looking at them: Jed sees the Grim Reaper, and Octavius sees Mercury. They lead the two to their paradises, and they each experience a single day in them.
That single day allows for three years to pass, and in 2017, the Tablet returns to the museum, as seen in SOTT's ending. It heralds the return of Ahkmenrah, and the return of everyone's lives. Nick has taken up the mantle of being the night guard, to everyone's joy. Unfortunately, Ahkmenrah is in deep denial, and doesn't believe Jed and Octavius are dead. The veil has to be lifted for him, and it breaks him emotionally when none of the miniatures come alive, and Nick hands him the plastic corpse.
This is when things go pear-shaped, and eyes begin to grow on Jed and Octavius's bodies in the afterlife. It seems they'll have to make contact between the living and the dead to resolve this...
